The Scoping Exercise

In 2016 Sidmouth Town Council and East Devon District Council agreed to run a Scoping Exercise to see what was possible at Port Royal. It was to be led by STC and the Officers of EDDC Regeneration Team were to manage the day to day working.

The documents from the STC meeting are here.

As you can see there was a Reference Group set up which contained Councillors and representatives from Sidmouth groups like the Chamber of Commerce and Sid Vale Association. This group was supposed to feed back their expertise about the area and let the Consultants know what had been done in the past.

However, it has only met 3 times so far ( as of 14th Sept 2017). Once before the consultants were appointed, once when they were appointed and introduced, and once an hour before the Public Consultant opened at Kennaway House at the end of June.

The minutes of its meetings can be found here on the Sidmouth.gov.uk website.

It is worth reading these documents to see exactly what the consultants were being asked to do and how much the officers of the council were/are involved in guiding and supporting the independent consultants. It is clear that everything they have done has been what was required in the activity timeline shown below. (If the document doesn’t show for you please scroll down to the download link.)
